Be the Example…
The other day my son came to me while I was in my office and said “Daddy, I want help people like you” and when I turned around he had in his hands a Lego creation that he called his coffee makers. I suddenly found myself choked up with emotion because I saw through him that what I was doing is being noticed. Not just noticed by the public but being noticed by my son! Who would have figured that you could put purpose to a virtual coffee shop online and offer a way for customers to not only buy coffee online but also make a difference in their community and country.
I have had numerous jobs through out my life time and career. Everything from mowing lawns as a young boy, summer camp councilor at Scout Camp, Lifeguard, construction contractor, go-kart track manager, pizza maker, volunteer fire fighter, United States Merchant Marine Engineer, United States Coast Guard Engineering Project Manager, and Subsea Supervisor (trainee). As you can tell there is a pretty broad stroke of experience here. All of these jobs were exciting and served a purpose at the time, but none like the job that I currently have as a father, innovator and leader.
I have since gone against the rules and used ‘Kragle’ to glue his Lego Coffee makers together and they now sit upon my desk as prized trophies. It just goes to show that in this case Kragle does not kill dreams. In my case it continues to inspire me to make my dreams a reality. I want to offer the best mail order coffee online and I want to empower that coffee with purpose to make a difference in the lives of our nations heroes.
My son, Lucas, LOVES fire trucks just as most boys do at his age. I often ask how one can not be enamored by the massive, red, shinny truck that runs down the road with horns blazing and lights flashing. Knowing this, I made it a point to schedule a couple visits to local fire departments one afternoon as a surprise to him so that he could join me… you know, the whole ‘two birds with one stone’ kind of story. Ever since I started down this journey my son has been observing me, watching my ways, listening to me talk to others about my gourmet coffee beans online and how it’s my goal to be there for our nations heroes.
It brought great joy to see my son come to life with energy, pride and excitement when we pulled up to the first fire house. He was so excited and proud!! To that he was so adamant as well… “Daddy I want to give the fire mans the coffee!!” Of course I let him. The warmth that I felt inside when I saw him handing away my award winning coffee to the team on duty was beyond measure. Its days like this that make the sacrifice so worth it.
A single twig will snap but a bundle of twigs will remain strong. Thanks to you all for joining me. Thank you for helping me impact the lives of so many and more importantly thank for helping me to be a positive example to my son, my legacy.
Cheers to you!
