Got Your Six Coffee Co. (GY6CC)

Got Your Six Coffee Co. (GY6CC) is passionate about helping veterans and others who put their lives on the line everyday to serve and protect us. Because of that a portion of all the profits from Got Your Six Coffee go to our non-profit, GY6 Foundation which has a primary mission to ‘serve those who serve’. Veteran homelessness, veteran suicides, and the daily struggles that veterans, LEO’s, EMT’s and Fire Fighters have with respect to PTSD needs to be addressed and we intend to lend a hand with that… 8 of them to be exact. That is exactly why we have an octopus as part of our logo because we are lending a hand, or arm in this case, to members of the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, Marine Corp, Law Enforment, Emergency Medical Technicians and those in the Fire Fighting community.

Coffee Fuels Adventure!

Have you ever been excited to go on a vacation, to take a road trip or to just spend a special day with family and friends at an event. What did you do before you left the house? Did you wake up early with excitement, shower with anticipation and get dressed ready to start your day? If you’re like us, you got up super early simply because the suspense kept you from sleeping which means that with groggy excitement we start our day hunting for coffee… Coffee Fuels Adventure.
One of my favorite things to do is to spend time outside. Hiking, camping, exploring… mix a little road tripping with some jams blasting out of the speakers, good friends head banging along to the song with you, a cup of coffee and I am on cloud nine. Even better when it is freshly roasted Got Your Six Coffee!! Our coffee is designed with a purpose and is so much more than just a caffeinated cup of joe.
There was a time in my life when road trips across the country for offroad exploration adventures was a norm, but then life happened. I am sure many of you can relate! A new job, with new responsibilities, a family with young minds to develop and look after. Before I knew it, road trips off to far away distant states had turned into soccer trips across town for practice. That is when life led me in a different direction, I found myself living vicariously through a YouTube Channel called Expedition Overland.
Expedition Overland, or XO for short,  started off as a band of brothers who craved adventure… it started out as a group of guys who, like me, loved hanging out in the woods. They loved finding spots that were beyond cell reception. They love being, what most would call, lost in the great outdoors. They love the inherent peace that comes from being off grid, reliant upon their skill sets, their ingenuity, and their equipment. For years I had lived my own life of adventure with traveling abroad for work with Military Sealift Command. I had done my own version of overlanding with offroad adventure parks and camping. When you live a life of adventure it’s hard to just stop and unplug from it all because it becomes an addiction. XO helped me to keep me from going stir crazy during that time in my life.
For several years I spent my spare time partaking in adventure with them through a TV screen. First it was the trials and tribulations of putting an expedition team together. Then it was the challenges of an expedition up to the Yukon and back. Every week I would sit there glued to the channel day dreaming about new adventures while reliving past ones. For years it was as if there was a connection even though I had never met this band of brothers… that was until May of 2017 when after several phone conversations I was invited to take part in the XO season 3 premier party hosted by Toyota down in Dallas TX. What an event! To meet the crew, to hang out, talk trucks and adventure while sharing laughs and dreams was incredible. That was the start of a new friendship. Next thing I knew we were roasting and packaging coffee for their brand, we were serving coffee in their booth at Overland West. It has gone even further with introductions to several other great individuals, whom have inspired me that I look up too. Now, in a small way, we are a part of their team and they are a part of ours. Coffee is community!
It just goes to shows that you never know where life is going to take you. Follow YOUR compass! What is your true north, what direction does your heart say you should go. Determine what that is and make your next adventure happen!
If you love adventure, might we recommend that you try Got Your Six Coffee Co’s Overlander blend. Whatever your passion is, whatever the adventure may be you are going to need fuel to make it happen.
