National Philanthropy Day Nomination
November 13th, 2018 is National Philanthropy Day and we were blessed with the honor of being nominated as an “Outstanding Philanthropic Business/Corporation of the Year”.
Thank you! It is an honor to have been chosen for such an award. Thank you Lisa Alexander and Cox Health for nominating us and thank you to my wife Jayme for being my biggest fan, my biggest supporter and my partner on this epic journey. You are such a big part of the team that is working to make a difference for those who don a uniform of service to this great country. Lord knows I cant do this without you!
There are many reasons why I started Got Your Six Coffee Company. It is about “Coffee” but then again its not about coffee. Clay Croft from Expedition Overland, one of my mentors that I look up to, once said that if you turn your passions into a career you will never work another day in your life. For years I kept asking myself the questions, what are my passions, what do I love doing, how can I make that a career…
Ever since I was a little kid working my way up the ranks to Eagle Scout it was about helping people, it was about big powerful pieces of machinery, tools, the great outdoors and adventure. When I learned that 400 MILLION Cups of coffee are consumed in the US Every day, I saw it as a tool, a necessity. I saw it as something more than just a morning pick me up. I saw it as a way to help people, as a way to inspire and a way to leave a legacy. We have done exactly that. Got Your Six Coffee Co continues to prove its mission of service to those who serve.
A couple years back when I first started this company I learned really quick that I had found the passion and purpose that God had placed on my heart. I can sit here and tell you story after story about how we are helping people, how we are making a difference, all of which are great, but one of the most important stories to me comes from this…. A simple pile of Legos that my son brought to me one day while I was working in my office. As I was sitting there he came running in with excitement saying ‘Daddy, Daddy, look at this’ and when I turned my chair around he was holding this pile of Legos up to my face. With matched excitement, I asked him ‘What is this son?’, to which he said ‘Its my coffee maker, I am going to help people too!’ I lost it! It was in that moment right there that I knew I was doing something special. Just like how I feel now. Thank you for moments like this. These are moments that renew and fuel my passion. Thank you for believing in a crazy idea that coffee can have purpose beyond just a cup of caffeine, that coffee has power beyond the magic that is encased in it’s bean and that when we work together that there is nothing that we can’t accomplish. – Thank you!
